This is a varied position that requires candidates who are dynamic, responsible and able to organise their time efficiently. A multitude of skills are required for this role to include cooking to a high standard, hosting guests, housekeeping, driving in winter conditions, undertaking practical tasks such as snow clearing, light maintenance, chopping/stacking wood and assisting the Resort Manager with general duties around the resort and chalets.

This role would be ideally suited to candidates that have previously worked a winter season in chalets as a host or chef.


  • Weekly changeover & looking after our self catered chalet – welcome guests and show them around the chalet
  • Mid-week housekeeping in the chalet as requested
  • Working as a chalet host alongside a freelance chef in when it is catered ( 1 or 2 weeks per season)
  • Emergency Illness cover of other staff in other chalets, this may be just a few days at a time until a replacement member of staff is found or it could be for a few weeks at a time, flexibility is required and our priority is to ensure that our catered chalet guests receive excellent service and this should not be compromised if the host or chef is unable to work – in these instances the flexi host’s schedule will be covered by the Resort Manager

Resort support including:

*Assist with snow clearing at all 4 chalets

*Help with logs for the fire, kindling and cleaning outdoor areas at all 4 chalets

*Deal with minor maintenance issues in all chalets and at staff accommodation

*Driving duties include taking the staff to work, driving chefs to the supermarket for shopping

*Help with daily duties in chalets after breakfast, including disposal of rubbish & recycling

*Clean staff accommodation as part of the weekly rota

*Care of designated company vehicle (keep it clean, refuelled and in good working order)


  • Applicants must hold either an EU passport (copy required on application) or a Carte/Titre de Sejour allowing the applicant to work in France.
  • If you hold neither of the above but hold a UK passport the applicant must be prepared to undergo the visa application process which will involve various applications (in conjunction with the company) attend visa appointments in the UK and France (possibly out of work hours) medical appointments in France and the applicant must be willing to incur some of the involved costs. UK passport holders must have at least 6 months valid on the expiry date of the passport from the end of April 2023 (i.e. 31/10/2023) A copy of the passport is required on application.
  • High level of communication with fluent spoken English and the ability to read English
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Previous experience of working within hospitality including housekeeping and catering
  • Excellent cooking skills to cover chefs’ duties - breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner service in case of chef illness is essential
  • Previous experience driving larger vehicles, with passengers, in winter conditions
  • Be able to work as part of a team and have a flexible approach to your work and colleagues
  • Reliability, confidence and being able to work independently
  • Aptitude to put the needs of the guests first
  • Excellent time management and punctuality and be well presented
  •  To be able to prioritize and plan ahead
  • To be able to work well under pressure
  • A mature and professional attitude towards the seasonal “culture”
  • Candidates must hold a valid & clean driving license, copy required on application
  • Candidates must hold a Level 2 food & hygiene certificate and a copy will be required
  • A valid medical insurance policy cover for France for the period of employment which must include mountain rescue insurance and repatriation to your home country if you are unable to travel independently following an accident or illness.
  • Covid-19 protocols- All staff are required to be fully vaccinated, according to the fully vaccinated status in France at the time of employment


  • Salary per Contract of Employment- 1404.26 euros NET per month + holiday pay
  • Fixed term French contract – 38 hours per week
  • Accommodation in a shared room in the staff apartment – for which a refundable deposit of 200€ will be paid by the staff member to Ski Cuisine upon signing the work contract (Ski Cuisine do not charge staff for accommodation)
  • Food supplied (on work days) one meal per day and breakfast
  • Ski or snowboard equipment for the season
  • Lift pass- Ski Cuisine will purchase a three valley lift pass on behalf of the employee upon successful completion of the trial period and deductions from the monthly salary will be made to cover the cost of the lift pass
  • Travel – an allowance of €150 will be paid with your first salary, pending successful completion of your trial period.  A return travel allowance of 150€ will be paid alongside your staff accommodation deposit at the end of April 2023 if your staff accommodation is left clean and without damage/major breakages at the end of the season
  • Two days off per week (there will be certain weeks where only one day off is allocated plus two half days of which you will be notified in advance)
  • Outdoor jacket, polo shirts & aprons are supplied, to be worn during morning working hours; please provide your own chef blacks or whites for when you may have to cover a chef and black trousers for when working in a chalet to cover a host.  You may also wish to bring some more hardy black trousers for working outside
  • Please provide your own suitable black footwear which must be worn in the chalet during working hours.  You will be able to wash all uniform in the chalets
