Chalet host couple

Ice and Fire Ski and Snowboard Holidays
July 11, 2018
La Plagne, France
Job Type

There is no other experience quite like working a ski season. Working with Ice and Fire offers you the chance to spend a winter season in La Plagne in the beautiful French Alps. You'll have the opportunity to ski or snowboard for 5 months, to meet friends for life, to learn new skills and to live and work in an amazing environment.

Working a season isn't a holiday though. Working in a chalet is tiring both physically and mentally, and requires hard work, dedication and professionalism. You will work as part of a chalet team to provide breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails and canapes and a four course evening meal 6 nights a week. You will be responsible for the cleanliness and tidiness of the chalet as well as organizational jobs such as ordering the food and wine. A warm, friendly and professional welcome of your guests is a must, as is a positive can-do attitude.

The chalet chef role involves providing a cooked and continental breakfast, homemade afternoon tea and delicious, well presented four course evening meal 6 nights a week. The focus is on restaurant quality cooking and presentation, in a relaxed homely environment. You will also be responsible for menu planning, food ordering and the chalet budget.

The successful applicant will have proven professional cooking experience; a food hygiene qualification and experience of menu planning, kitchen cleaning, budgeting and cooking for people with dietary requirements.

Working alongside the chalet chef you will be the life and soul of the chalet, looking after the guests and the property. The word flexibility sums up this role and you might find yourself doing anything from booking ski school to helping children with their boots.

As a chalet host you are responsible for cleaning and tidying the chalet, serving meals, clearing snow and some basic maintenance, responding to guest requests and making your guests feel welcome and happy.

The successful applicant will have relevant cleaning and customer service experience along with plenty of enthusiasm and a professional approach to their work. Ski season experience or French language skills are advantageous.
