Chalet Combi Host / Driver / Logistics

We hope so. As becoming one of our hand-selected Combi Host/Drivers, you are an Ambassador for Powder White and generally seen as the make or break of any guests' holiday. So if you love food and love getting to know people then you've already stepped in the right direction towards becoming a Combi Host/Drivers with us.

We are looking for candidates with a really strong work ethic who share our passion for providing incredible home from home, guest experiences. As a Combi Host/Driver you can expect variety; often finding yourself preparing, organising and delivering the PW product & service in-chalet, single-handedly or with another Chalet Host. At other times you will be acting as one of the main resort drivers, supporting the chalets and the operation with resort logistics and allocations, shuttles & airport transfers as well as many other duties.

So what does the role involve? 

Variety & Flexibility! You will be required to manage every aspect of running any of Powder White’s chalets often at short notice or as part of a weekly rota in your resort. You will spend a lot of time in various chalets delivering the PW product as well as spending much of your time out and about, undertaking driving duties or taking care of resort weekly allocations and logistics. You will be expected to be able to happily jump in a chalet to cover for your team mates at times of need. It is often hard work and the hours are long but the rewards are endless. Here are just a few of the responsibilities that will fall at your door...

  • Sharing your passion of cooking and food by providing hearty breakfasts and lovingly prepared 3 course evening meals on 6 nights a week with canapés and cheese on the first and last evenings.
  • A strong sense of cleanliness and hygiene by undertaking daily housekeeping, weekly changeover and regular deep cleans.
  • Working within food and kitchen hygiene standards as set out in the Level 2 Award in Food Hygiene that we will provide you (should you not already have already have this).
  • Faultless and courteous hosting covering all aspects of welcoming guests to include booking restaurants or helping arrange ski packs.
  • Attend both weekly Accounts and Operations Meetings with your Resort Manager and Chalet Manager.
  • Snow clearing in and around your chalet
  • Shopping on a weekly basis using cash and an account. You will be responsible for staying within an allowance figure allocated, accounting for all expenditure.
  • Stock-taking of wood, wine/champagne and bathroom goodies ensuring accurate records are kept for successful re-ordering
  • Undertaking regular movements in and out of your stores and chalets, whilst keeping a good record of all movements of stocks.
  • Adhering to local recycling rules and practices. Working with the Chalet teams in ensuring that all relevant procedures are followed.
  • Working seamlessly with your managers and hosts ensuring the most memorable Powder White experience is delivered (for all the right reasons!)
  • Playing a major role in the in resort team sales strategy for the season of ski hire/ski passes as well as Powder White Extras obtaining payments and details of credit/debit cards.

Vehicles& Transfers

  • Participating in resort Chalet shopping & laundry logistics practices, driving as and when required
  • Ensuring that the vans themselves are well looked after, secure and clean, as well as being kitted out with all the relevant safety equipment.
  • Taking responsibility of the resort vehicles; undertaking airport transfers, offering in-resort shuttle service and driving yourself and your passengers with the utmost care, attention and safety, often under challenging weather conditions.
  • Ensuring that the vans themselves are well looked after, secure and clean, as well as being kitted out with all the relevant safety equipment.

 

And what experience & qualities do you need?

 

  • Naturally hugely professional, reliable and flexible
  • A real team player and someone who takes pride in any job they do
  • Proven experience of working in a team environment with the ability to work on your own.
  • A great love of food and passion for cooking to a good dinner party standard with either commercial experience or having undertaken at least a 2 week cookery course. (Sadly, without this experience we’re not able to employ anyone without seeing strong prolonged, relevant, practical experience).
  • Self motivation, ability to juggle a number of things at any time & a strong work ethic.
  • ​​Minimum 1-2 years experience in a front line customer service role.
  • Ability/confidence to account for significant sums of money working to the allowance to achieve excellent service & cuisine.
  • With all the above duties in mind it’s imperative that you are able to manage, prioritise and develop your own routine to achieve superb results and exceed your own expectations.
  • Grafters! We need people who love a bit of hard work... because it really is hard work.
  • And last, but by no means least, a great sense of humour!​​
